A daily book quiz for curious readers

What is Bookidle?

Bookidle is a free daily game where you guess a book title and author. Each day brings two fresh challenges: Guess the Cover (identify a book from its blurred cover) and 5-Word Clues (guess the book from five progressive hints, starting hard and getting easier).

The puzzles reset every day at midnight. You can also browse our archive to play past quizzes whenever you want.

Why Bookidle exists

I built Bookidle because I love books and daily word games, but I couldn't find a simple, well-designed book quiz that updated every day.

So I made my own. Bookidle is meant to be clean, challenging, and welcoming whether you read a book a week or a book a month.

Behind the scenes

Bookidle is a one-person project. I'm a reader who wanted a daily book challenge that felt good to play. I research and write every clue and handle all the technical work.

Why no name? I prefer to keep the focus on the games, not on me. The site runs independently, and every decision comes back to one question: "Is this fun for readers?"

Where the book information comes from

Book covers are sourced from the Open Library API, a free, open catalog of book data. Clues and quiz logic are written by me. I aim for accuracy, but if you spot something off, please let me know.
